Julie Bowen Doesn’t ‘Know Any Dudes Strong Enough’ to Date Sofia Vergara: ‘She Is Such a Dynamo’

Julie Bowen made some shocking comments about her and pal Sofía Vergara’s dating lives since Modern Family came to an end.

Julie, 54, shared that she and Sofía, 52, do not set each other up on dates with potential suitors. The reason why is rather interesting.

“She knows better and I know better,” Julie told Us Weekly in an interview published on Tuesday, October 29. “She knows that I like the sort of odd ones, the quiet ones, the ones that don’t go out, you know, they’re not usually at the center of the party.”

Julie explained that Sofía is always the life of the party and she had nothing but praise for the Colombian-born actress, whom she called “a dynamo” and “fantastic.” The pair shared the screen on Modern Family for 11 seasons before the show came to an end in April 2020.

“She’s so devoted to her family. … You go to her house, and there’s always a family member there,” Julie explained. “You go on a trip, you go anywhere, there’s always family. So if you want to date Sofia, you got to date the whole package.”

“She’s truly the most generous, kind, funny person I’ve ever met. But I don’t know any dudes who are strong enough for that,” Julie continued.

In a recent October interview with the outlet, Sofía clarified her relationship status after months of speculation. The Griselda actress was asked whether she still thought dating in New York City was better than dating in Los Angeles.

“Totally. Actually, I was talking yesterday about it because now I’m single so … kind of single. [Laughs.] Anyways,” she said. The comments came after the Emmy nominee was spotted out on multiple occasions with orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman.

“I feel like there’s a more diverse group of people in New York than in L.A. because most of the people are in the entertainment business,” she added. “Here, you have people from all over the world — architects, writers, actors, businesspeople.”

As for Julie’s love life, the Happy Gilmore actress said that she has not introduced any suitors to her three kids, Oliver, John and Gus, whom she shares with ex-husband Scott Phillips.

“I have still never introduced them to anybody that I have dated … how many people have you been 100 percent confident about in your life?” she explained. “The minute you’re like, ‘I’m dating this person,’ the boys are like thinking about my mom doing sex stuff. They don’t want to think about that with married parents, right? That’s gross to people who aren’t married.”

Julie previously opened up about raising her three teenage boys at home, revealing that they do not talk to her about girls.

“I have a lot of purposefully scattered about the house books that are informational about sex, drugs, what to avoid, how to not get people pregnant, not get diseases,” she said during an appearance on Today on September 12.
