Justin Hartley Teases Wife Sofia Pernas’ Upcoming ‘Tracker’ Appearance: ‘She Puts Herself on the Line’
Justin Hartley and his wife, Sofia Pernas, play enemies on screen, but the Tracker stars have nothing but love for each other!
Justin, 48, appeared on CBS Mornings on Monday, February 10, to dish on the upcoming midseason premiere of Tracker and working with Sofia, 35.
The segment started off with Gayle King saying that Tracker is “the most watched entertainment program, averaging more than 18 million viewers per episode.”
Sofia was in the third episode of season 2, and Justin revealed she will be returning later on in the season for another appearance as the character Billie Matalon.
“We like Sofia; she’s your wife in real life, but she plays your nemesis, so when I’m watching and you guys are having this back and forth where you don’t like each other … what is it like looking in her face knowing that you two don’t like each other in this particular plot?” Gayle, 70, asked Justin, who plays lead character Colter Shaw on the hit CBS show.
“It’s interesting … It’s fun to play because it’s a safe place to play with that,” he said about playing enemies with his wife on Tracker. “She’s such a good actor, and they have a complicated past. She betrayed him, and he keeps that in mind when dealing with her.”
Justin and Sofia got married in 2021 and have already shared the screen together a number of times so far.
“She comes back later on in the season to return a favor that Colter needs. And she does it in a big way and it ends in this pretty, I don’t want to say explosive, but almost heartbreaking thing that happens where she really puts herself on the line for him in a big, big way,” the Smallville alum teased about the upcoming episodes. “He kind of realizes that maybe he went too far with the ask, so she’s got a real story arc as do all of our guest stars.”
The plot of the midseason premiere was already revealed, and Brent Sexton is back as Keaton, who is aiding Colter in his white whale case. The episode is titled “The Disciple.”

“A new lead in Colter’s white whale case, the disappearance of Gina Picket, brings him and retired cop Keaton (guest star Brent Sexton) back together to track down a serial killer, on the CBS Original series TRACKER,” a synopsis released by CBS said ahead of the episode.
The episode was written by Sharon Lee Watson and Amanda Mortlock and directed by Bethany Rooney.
Justin admitted that he is thrilled with the success of Tracker after coming off of six successful seasons of playing Kevin Pearson on This Is Us. “It feels good, you know,” he reflected during the interview on this chapter of his acting career.
He also praised the positive vibes that have been radiating around the Tracker set. “Everyone walks around with smiles and they all seem very happy,” Justin remarked about his colleagues.
Tracker’s season 2 midseason premiere will air on Sunday, February 16, at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs).
