Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton looked stunning when she attended the 2019 Order of the Garter celebration with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, Queen Letizia of Spain, and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands on Monday, June 17.

For the outing, Kate wore a black and white Catherine Walker “Liza” coat dress with a Lock & Co. hat. While standing outside of St. George’s Chapel, she mingled with the rest of the ladies who each wore a beautiful fascinator that matched their vibrant personalities. Camilla donned a cream colored hat that shifted off to the side of her face while Sophie wore a tan fascinator that came equipped with a red feather.

Queen Letizia also looked very elegant when she showed up to the event wearing a feathered black headpiece that was very different than Queen Maxima’s blush pink fascinator. Not only that but Prince William also looked amazing when he arrived at St. George’s Chapel in velvet robes and a high ostrich plume in his black hat. He took part in the celebration with his dad, Prince Charles, and his uncle Prince Andrew.

If you ask us, Kate wore such a beautiful outfit to this year’s Order of the Garter celebration because she wasn’t able to go in 2018. Last year, she had to stay at home because she was on maternity leave after giving birth to her third child, Prince Louis, in April 2018.

In addition to the Order of the Garter being one of the oldest and most senior order of knighthood events in the U.K., the celebration also means a lot to Kate and William. In 2008, they made their debut as a couple when they attended the outing hand in hand. That same year, William also received his Order of the Garter knighthood. So cool!

The first time Kate attended the event with William, she wore a polka-dot black skirt suit and had a laugh with Prince Harry who stood next to her and Camilla. Queen Elizabeth was also in attendance and seemed to get along really well with Kate.

Apparently, it wasn’t until Meghan Markle came into the picture that Kate started to feel more distanced from the queen. “Since Meghan married Prince Harry, she and the Queen have become so close,” a source previously told Life & Style. “The Queen has really gotten to know Harry’s bride and finds her utterly charming. She thinks everything about her represents the future of the monarchy.”

Even though Kate reportedly doesn’t feel comfortable in front of big crowds, she didn’t let that stop her from supporting her husband at this year’s Order of the Garter celebration.

“Kate still finds these huge public events overwhelming,” a palace insider recently told Us Weekly. “She’s always been naturally shy.”

Thankfully for Kate, she’s been adjusting to royal life really well and has been giving her kids — Prince George, 5, Princess Charlotte, 4, and Prince Louis, 1, the best upbringing as possible.

“Kate and William put a lot of emphasis on doing normal things together,” an insider recently shared to Closer Weekly. “They just want their kids to be kids.”
