Kate Spade’s Funeral Will Be Held This Week in Her Hometown of Kansas City

Rest in peace, Kate Spade. Two weeks after the iconic fashion designer’s apparent suicide in her NYC apartment, Kate is being laid to rest. The mother-of-one was just 55 years old when she passed away on June 5.

According to The Kansas City Star, funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. this Thursday, June 21 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church in Kate’s hometown of Kansas City, MO. According to Kate’s brother, Frank Brosnahan, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Church is the same church Kate’s grandparents were married in.

“I imagine there will be a crowd,” her brother continued, and he’s likely right. Kate had a tremendous impact on not only the world of fashion, but on each and every woman she touched with her designs and her obituary is certainly a testament to that fact.

“To most of the world, she was Kate Spade, the beautiful embodiment of her brand and a glamorous cultural icon. Everyone knows of her global fame as a fashion designer responsible for the wildly popular and successful products that still capture the hearts and fancies of women everywhere. Many women today recount their first experiences with the Kate Spade brand and the inspiration they drew from its namesake. However, there was so much more to Katy and her life. Those who knew her personally can share stories of a phenomenally loving, giving, humble, warm, and affectionate woman who tragically left this world far too soon,” her obituary stated.

Kate is survived by many grieving family members, including her husband, Andrew Spade, her 13-year-old daughter Frances Beatrix Spade.
