Kathie Lee Gets Choked Up After Sweet Message From Regis Philbin During Final ‘Today’ Episode — Watch!

To celebrate Kathie Lee Gifford‘s final episode of Today, the entire April 5 episode is dedicated to Hoda Kotb‘s cohost of 11 years. One of the big surprises she received during the festivities was an emotional tribute from former Live With Regis and Kathie Lee cohost Regis Philbin.

“Kathie Lee, the best part of my TV life was with the 15 years I spent with you from 1985 to 2000,” Regis, 87, begins in a sweet video message. “We stayed friends through the entire game, and it was a lot of fun. Where you are right now, I know you’re going to be moving on to a great new career making movies and, since I’ve seen the first one, I know you’re going to be a great success. I really mean it!”

“I want you to know how I will always remember the great times that we had working together and how you are as a person,” Regis adds. “Just great.”

Kathie Lee, 65, is clearly choked up as the clip ends and has just three words for the former Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? host: “Love you, Reg.”

Back in 2015, Regis exclusively told Closer Weekly the reason he had so much chemistry with Kathie Lee was because of her “generous personality.” “You know what I mean?” he asked. “She just gives it to you, whoever you are, and it just develops into a momentum sometimes.”

As for what the future might hold for these two pals, Regis teased that making a reality TV show with Kathie Lee would be “a lot of fun” — even calling it “a good idea.” What would that look like, as unlikely as it may be? A lot of wine, jokes Regis, since Kathie Lee is “the wine connoisseur of the world.”

The bond between Kathie Lee and Regis is simply undeniable.
