Katie Couric Is Penning a Memoir Detailing the Newsroom Culture: ‘It’s the Right Time to Look Back’

She’s an open book! Katie Couric, after 40 years on television, will be releasing a memoir that will be discussing everything from her notable interviews to workplace sexism.

The book, titled Unexpected, is set to be released in the spring of 2021, and we should all expect there to be a lot of juicy information contained within its pages. According to publisher Little, Brown and Company, the memoir will take a look at the “unapologetic Mad Men culture” of the TV industry, and as much as people think they know the news anchor, 62, it will reveal “we don’t even know the half of it.” It seems like the book will also speak about the #MeToo movement, and may speak about Matt Lauer and his Today firing, and touch on Katie’s personal battles.

“I’ve been privileged to lead an extraordinary life, one that I never anticipated,” the author said in a statement. “I’ve experienced so much, both professionally and personally, but have never really had an opportunity to reveal what was going on behind the scenes. I’m excited to share what it was like being at the center of so many historic events and game-changing stories. I’m also ready to talk about the fascinating and sometimes challenging people with whom I’ve worked, the radical transformation of my industry and the heartbreaking losses I’ve endured.”
