Pierce Brosnan’s Wife Keely Shaye Smith Shares Dating Throwback Photos in Anniversary Tribute
Pierce Brosnan‘s wife Keely Shaye Smith celebrated the couple’s 31-year dating anniversary by reminding fans what a smoke show the duo was when they first got together.
Keely, 61, posted a series of red carpet throwback photos via Instagram on Wednesday, April 9, showing how glamorous the duo looked in the mid 1990s.
“April 26, 1995 – Our first red carpet appearance in London. Still stepping out 31 years later. Happy Anniversary my love!” the former journalist wrote in the caption. She added of the date they met, “4-8-94 was my lucky day.”
The first picture featured a magazine article showing the duo at the April 26, 1995, London red carpet premiere of Brad Pitt‘s film Legends of the Fall. The piece noted how Pierce, 71, was in England at the time filming his debut as James Bond in Goldeneye, as he “squired his real-life Bond girl” Keely to the event.

In a sentimental gesture, Keely appeared to have saved the nearly 30-year-old clipping, as she took a photo of the article while it sat atop a table.
The Vallejo, California, native included other glamorous photos from early in their romance, including how she wore a stunning red strapless gown to accompany Pierce to the November 1995 U.K. premiere of Goldeneye. Another snapshot showed the duo cuddling up at a November 1995 boxing match between Stephen Collins and Cornelius Carr.
A third picture showed Keely in a figure-hugging gray dress while posing with Pierce at the March 1996 Blockbuster Awards, while a fourth photo featured the couple dressed to the nines for the Ark Trust’s 10th Annual Genesis Awards, also in March 1996.

Keely finished up the carousel with recent red carpet photos showing herself and Pierce attending the New York premiere of MobLand on March 31, as well as the Broadway opening night of Good Night, and Good Luck on April 3. One fan wrote in the comments that the couple was “both aging like fine wines.”
Pierce and Keely met at a party in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, where she’d flown to interview Ted Danson but the actor was called away at the last minute.
“He was captivating. Tall, dark and handsome–everything that everybody would immediately be attracted to,” the former entertainment reporter recalled to People in 2001 about Pierce. “He had this mischievous sparkle in his eyes. I thought, ‘Wow! Wow!’”
“[Pierce] held my hand. There were fireworks going off over our heads, and Kenny Loggins was singing,” she revealed about their first night together at the party. “We talked until three in the morning … he is an appealing man.”
The Mama Mia! star was a widower when he met Keely. He lost his first wife, Cassandra Harris, following her battle with ovarian cancer in 1991.
Pierce and Keely tied the knot on August 4, 2001, at Ashford Castle in Pierce’s native Ireland. By then, the duo had already welcomed two sons: Dylan Thomas Brosnan, 28, and Paris Beckett Brosnan, 24.
The couple are still so in love today, always jumping at the chance to share recollections about their love story and mark sentimental moments.
On their August 2024 wedding anniversary, Keely shared portraits from the big day. She wrote in the caption, “You are the finest, loveliest, tenderest person I have ever known. Happy Anniversary my love @piercebrosnanofficial. Here’s to the next 23 years together. May they continue to be creative, adventurous, loving, inspiring, and joyful. Time flies on love’s wings.”
