Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Unveil Temporary ‘Live’ Studio, Fans React to the ‘Echo’ During Episode

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos hosted Live With Kelly and Mark in a setting that was a bit unfamiliar for viewers to kick off the week. During the Monday, April 7, episode of the show, the couple appeared in a temporary location after moving out of the show’s old studio.

“For decades, we’ve been broadcasting from the Upper West Side at 7 Lincoln Square,” Mark, 54, told viewers of their new surroundings. “And today we are coming to you from our new home downtown! This is the great room within the Walt Disney company’s headquarters. I would say it’s state-of-the-art.”

Kelly, 54, said that the new building is massive, and that it “encompasses an entire city block.”

“There is 1.2 million square feet, 22 stories. I don’t even know what story we’re on,” the All My Children alum noted.

Mark said that the building “holds approximately 5,000 employees.” Kelly playfully said, “And I believe they’re all here.” The camera turned to show people in the audience.

The talk show hosts revealed all of the things the new building has to offer, including nursing stations.

“Back in the day, and everybody that works here can attest, the former nursing station used to be the makeup and hair room during the briefing meeting,” Kelly remarked. “I would just say, ‘Look away if you can’t handle it!'”

A rep for ABC previously shared a statement about Kelly and Mark’s temporary filming location.

“Kelly, Mark, Gelman, Deja and the whole Live crew will showcase the inside of Disney’s gorgeous, brand-new downtown headquarters as they present the show from the sprawling 10th floor in front of a live audience,” the rep said to People, adding that the duo will officially move into the “fresh, new, state-of-the-art studio” after a week of filming in the temporary space.

In photos shared on Live’s official Instagram page, fans got another glimpse of the temporary space that Kelly and Mark are filming from before they are able to settle into their new studio on April 14.

In the comments section of the post, many fans had some criticism about the show’s temporary space for the week.

“I miss the old studio! I’m glad that this is just a temporary set. Next week, the new set will be revealed!” one person commented on the post.

“The lighting is amazing! You guys look more beautiful than before if that’s even possible, but the echo / sound needs work,” another person said.

“Soooo…why’d they leave the old studio before the new one was ready?” a third commenter asked.

“Echo is too much! Also the stairs to where you are!!! Hope nobody falls! Unacceptable. Not handicap friendly,” another person wrote underneath the post.

“This studio does not feel very intimate and the cavernous studio produces an echo,” another person said.

It seemed that a couple of other commenters were confused by the show’s temporary new location.

“New studio is way too corporate. Needs a lot of work to make cozy,” one person wrote, while another person responded, “This is temporary. The new studio will be revealed at a later date.”
