Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ ‘All My Children’ Throwback Pic Just Took Us Back 20 Years
We’re feeling super nostalgic thanks to Kelly Ripa! If you remember from years ago, the TV star used to be on the soap opera All My Children, and it’s where she met her now husband, Mark Consuelos. And now, 20 years after their TV wedding, Kelly is taking us back in time.
The 47-year-old took to Instagram on Thursday, Feb. 22 to share a cute photo of her and Mark’s characters, bad girl Hayley Vaughan and Mateo Santos, respectively. “#TBT 1998ish Hayley and Mateo, and Mateo’s hairline. (For better or for worse) #AllMyChildren,” she wrote.
Mark and Kelly married in real life in 1996 in Las Vegas, and are now parents to three kids: Michael, 20, Lola, 16, and Joaquin, 14. Before they tied the knot though, they were just head over heels for each other on the set of All My Children.
“I thought she was adorable, hot, and sexy and all that stuff,” Mark once said of his now-wife. “But I was very focused — I didn’t really think I had a chance with her, so I wasn’t really focused on that.” Little did he know, Kelly totally had a thing for him. “I was drawn to Mark because he was positively an alpha male, and I didn’t think I would be drawn to that. But I just worship him,” she once said.
The two will always remember their time on the soap, and Kelly was so sad to learn of its cancelation back in 2011. “This is like losing a member of your family. All My Children was more than a job — it was my family, ” she told The Hollywood Reporter at the time. “It was there that I met my husband; it was there when my first two children were born; it was there where I met many of my lifelong friends. It was the greatest training ground ever. I feel heartsick.” Here’s to a revival with both Kelly and Mark as the stars!
