Kim Basinger has joined the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise!
According to Variety, the 62-year-old actress will portray Elena Lincoln, Christian Grey’s business partner and former lover, in the upcoming flick, Fifty Shades Darker. Production on the movie — the second installment of author E.L. James‘ popular romance novels — is set to begin later this year.

The franchise’s stars, Dakota Johnson, 26, and Jamie Dornan, 33, have also reportedly signed on to reprise their roles as Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively, in the Fifty Shades sequel, which is expected to hit theaters in February 2017.
Universal pictures is planning to shoot both Fifty Shades Darker and the series’ final installment, Fifty Shades Freed, back-to-back, Variety reported. The franchise’s finale is expected to premiere in theaters in February 2018.
