‘Little House on the Prairie’ Goes Down in History as an Iconic Show — See the Cast Then and Now!

Karen Grassle (Caroline Quiner Ingalls)

Karen has since appeared in films including Harry’s War, Wyatt Earp, Tales of Everyday Magic and My Greatest Teacher. Karen, who lives in Northern California, released a memoir, including info about her time on the show, Bright Lights, Prairie Dust.

“Whenever we have a reunion, it’s very touching,” she reflected on reuniting with her castmates a number of times over the years. “We were with [the younger actors] more than their parents. My heart is still very open with them.”

Melissa Gilbert (Laura Ingalls Wilder)

After Little House on the Prairie, Melissa starred in movies like The Miracle Worker and The Diary of Anne Frank and on TV shows Stand by Your Man and Sweet Justice. She also competed on season 14 of Dancing With the Stars.

She lives in upstate New York with husband Timothy Busfield. Her lifestyle brand, Modern Prairie, was inspired by her years on Little House.

Melissa Sue Anderson (Mary Ingalls Kendall)

In addition to her starring role on Little House on the Prairie, Melissa is known for acting in movies Midnight Offerings and Happy Birthday to Me as well as Which Mother Is Mine?, an ABC afterschool special. She is married to TV producer Michael Sloan and is a mom of two. She became a Canadian citizen in 2007.

Lindsay Greenbush (Carrie Ingalls)

Lindsay shared her Little House on the Prairie role with her identical twin, Sidney. After the show ended, the actress appeared on an episode of Matt Houston and starred in several commercials with her sister. Lindsey eventually retired from acting to instead focus on her education.

Matthew Labyorteaux (Albert Quinn Ingalls)

In addition to Little House on the Prairie, Matthew starred on TV shows The Red Hand Gang and Whiz Kids as well as appeared in several television movies. He’s also known for his work as a voice actor in films, video games, animation and advertisements.

Wendi Turnbaugh (Grace Ingalls)

Like Lindsey and Sidney Greenbush, Wendi Turnbaugh shared her Little House on the Prairie role with her twin sister, Brenda Turnbaugh. After starring on the beloved show, Wendi and Brenda appeared in one commercial before both leaving Hollywood.

Alison Arngrim (Nellie Oleson Dalton)

After rising to fame playing Nellie on Little House on the Prairie, Alison Arngrim guest-starred on TV shows The Love Boat and Fantasy Island. Alison is currently on a national tour with her hilarious one-woman show, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch. “I also have my interview show, ‘The Alison Arngrim Show,’” she told Closer. “It’s a podcast.”

Michael Landon (Charles Ingalls)

Michael was most known for his TV roles on Bonanza and Highway to Heaven. The Little House on the Prairie patriarch sadly died from pancreatic cancer at age 54 in July 1991.

“Our dad said he knew Little House would be around way past any of us being here because of the quality of the stories,” Michael’s daughter Leslie told Closer. “During the quarantine, when people were stuck in their homes, the show had even more of a resurgence.”
