Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth Share the Helpful Advice Luke Perry Gave Them About the ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ Reboot

Before Luke Perry died at the age of 52 — on March 4, just days after suffering a massive stroke — he was asked to appear on the Beverly Hills, 90210 reboot, BH90210. Even though he had to decline due to his demanding schedule on Riverdale, his costars Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth admit the late actor was thrilled that his friends were reuniting for one more season.

“Luke was on speakerphone for the first meeting,” Tori told People. “He was so supportive, and really proud that we were putting it together.”

While on the phone, Luke gave his peers a bit of encouraging advice so they don’t end up getting bullied on set. “He was like, ‘Don’t lose your vision, stick to your guns,’” Tori recalled. “Basically he told us to do what we set out to do and not change our minds.”

“Many times during the filming I thought, ‘He would be so happy right now to see us,'” Jennie added, saying her friend’s death brought the cast even closer together. “It brought us together on such a deep level.”

On Wednesday, August 7, Beverly Hills, 90210 returned to the small screen for BH90210 featuring Tori, Jennie, Jason Priestley, Gabrielle Carteris, Shannen Doherty, Ian Ziering and Brian Austin Green as a team once more.

“Life came full circle, and we’re stuck with each other at this point,” Jennie said. “Not to say we don’t have our ups and downs, but we love each other, and we’re like family. And there’s a reason that, 30 years later, we’re all back together again.”

It’s clear that Luke is missed by each and every one of his former costars.

“He was awesome,” Brian added about Luke in another interview with People. “Luke was one of those people nobody had a bad story about. He was just a great guy and he was Luke no matter where you saw him, no matter when you saw him, no matter what he was going through. He was a rock.”

BH90210 airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
