Mario Lopez Says the ‘Saved by the Bell’ Cast Would ‘Be Down’ for a Reboot

Is another classic sitcom from the ’90s getting a reboot? Mario Lopez hasn’t shut the door on a potential Saved by the Bell reunion, as he revealed his costars might be all about it.

The 45-year-old attended the Kidz Bop Los Angeles special fan event with his family on Saturday, June 1, and discussed the chances of he and his longtime pals getting back together for new Saved by the Bell episodes. “Yeah, I mean, everyone’s got their own thing going on, but I think if they could figure it out and work, then I think they’d be down,” the TV personality exclusively told Closer Weekly.

Mario, who has two kids — Gia, 8, and son Dominic, 5 — with his wife, Courtney Laine Mazza, added that he would be all about casting his children in the reboot.

“I wish my kids are older. They could probably play some of the roles,” the Extra host revealed, adding that he would be interested in making a return to the show that launched his career. “I got a lot on my plate, but if they come up with a fun, clever premise and somehow it could work in the schedule, it would be fun. Because I get along with everyone really well,” he explained.

The comedy kicked off in 1989 and ran for four season before wrapping up in 1993. The series also starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley, Dustin Diamond and Lark Voorhies. Less successful spinoffs like Saved by the Bell: The College Years and Saved by the Bell: The New Class soon followed after the original show ended.

If the classic program does make a return, perhaps Mario’s kids will watch it this time around, as he once said his children aren’t fans of the original. “I tried showing it to them, they don’t like it,” the actor exclusively told Closer. “They aren’t into it.”

In an age of reboots, here’s hoping Mario and his crew make a return soon!
