Mark Hamill Reveals He Was Fired From Jack in the Box for Doing Impressions

Well, at least things turned out pretty well for him. Not only is Mark Hamill living it up thanks to the Star Wars franchise, but he is one of the most successful voice actors ever. However, it is his voice magic that got him booted from his Jack in the Box job.

“I was always trying to find the theatrical aspects of it. I actually worked right down the street here at Jack in the Box and I was in the back all the time, making shakes and minding the grill,” the 67-year-old recalled during his appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden earlier this week. “I always aspired to work the window, the drive-thru. And the one chance I had at it, it never occurred to me not to be in character as the Jack in the Box clown.”

“My manager didn’t think it was very funny … told me to go home and never come back. Fired for being in character!” he said, after recreating the voice he used.

However, Mark did get his revenge on his boss when he ended up doing voice-over work in 1992’s Batman: The Animated Series, saying, “I’ll show you. One day I’ll be the Joker, and then you’ll be sorry!”

Things are going quite well for the icon — he will be voicing Chucky the doll in the anticipated remake of Child’s Play out on June 21. Mark also has a full slate ahead, as he will be lending his voice on the Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, and The Last Kids on Earth. The talented star will also appear in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker — with the latter perhaps not being his final hurrah as the character Luke Skywalker.

“We have not announced any specific plans for movies thereafter,” Disney president Bob Iger told Bloomberg. “There are movies in development, but we have not announced them. We will take a pause, some time, and reset because the Skywalker saga comes to an end with this ninth movie. There will be other Stars Wars movies, but there will be a bit of a hiatus.”
