Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Officially on Instagram: ‘We Thank You for Your Support’
Welcome to the ‘Gram, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry! On Tuesday, April 2, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex took to the popular social media platform to share their first-ever post.
“Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues,” the soon-to-be parents began. “We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal. – Harry & Meghan”
Some tea (because they’re royal), no shade, but is it a British thing to formally sign off on your social media posts? We’re looking at you, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik. Anyway, within minutes, Meghan and Harry’s account hit over 100,000 followers. To be honest, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the pair’s page hit 1 million by the end of the week. After all, they are the most beloved monarchs in the game right now. Sorry, Kate Middleton and Prince William!
Thousands of fans have already flocked to the post to show their support and excitement. Meghan’s BFF Jessica Mulroney showed some love to the couple with two heart emojis, while others shared actual messages. “Finally! We love you two so much,” one user commented. “Finally, the one and only account that will present informative, accurate and truly ‘need to know’ information. Thank you for sharing with us on this social media platform. Best wishes to you both!” added another.
Given that last comment, it totally just occurred to us that Meghan, 37, and Harry, 34, will likely announce the birth of their first child on freakin’ Instagram! How wild is that? Honestly, we seriously wonder what Queen Elizabeth thinks about all of this internet malarkey. We’re hoping it inspires her to snag an account of her own. We’re thinking “@QueenElizabethHBIC,” or a simple, “@YasQueen,” would make a stellar handle.
