Meghan Markle’s Powerful Friends May Concern Queen Elizabeth, Says Royal Expert

We’re sure you didn’t miss the news this past week that a luxurious baby shower was hosted for pregnant Meghan Markle — an event attended by many famous folks. And it seems that Queen Elizabeth may be concerned with the amount of powerful people the former actress is surrounding herself with.

Royal expert Dan Wootton mentioned on his talkRADIO program that he believes the Queen, 92, and other senior members are feeling anxious over the thought that the Duchess of Sussex’s, 37, pals may be encouraging her to ignore royal protocol. “If you look at the bunch of women who she was with at this baby shower, if you were a conservative stickler to the rules working within the royal family, you would be worried about this,” Wootton explained.

He continued, “She is surrounded by some of the most powerful, most successful women in the world. You’ve got Serena Williams, the tennis star. You’ve got Amal Clooney, the Human Rights lawyer who is very attached to Hollywood because of her marriage to George Clooney.” The former two are probably the most recognizable guests that attended the baby shower, but one can assume that as someone who spent plenty of time in Hollywood, Meghan has a ton of famous folks on her phone.

Wootton added, “This group of friends are going to be telling Meghan to not listen to what some stuck up, boring members of the royal households are telling you. The fact she is prepared to keep these people around her shows that she’s going to make some real change.” The commentator also revealed, “Amal Clooney was not friends with Meghan Markle before she met Prince Harry. These are new, powerful friends she is making as a result of her relationship with Harry.”

It also seems like Meghan’s brother-in-law, Prince William, may not have been a fan of the huge baby bash. “He has spent years working with the press to give them what they want but also gets what he wants in return — privacy,” former royal butler Paul Burrell recently wrote on The Sun. “Meghan is doing exactly what he doesn’t — courting attention all for her and her baby.”

It certainly seems like duchess is all about doing things her way, so it will be interesting to see how much more things change moving forward.
