Megyn Kelly Is Reportedly Returning to Prime Time TV and Planning Her Big Comeback

Journalist Megyn Kelly is reportedly returning to prime time on NBC in early August. While no official date has been announced, the special will likely mark a return of Megyn’s one-hour evening show, Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly, which aired for eight of its scheduled 10 episodes last summer before being pulled for low ratings.

In March, NBC announced that her Sunday show would air “periodically” going forward and that the prime time episodes would depend on Megyn’s “schedule with her weekday morning program,” which has struggled to compete in the ratings against ABC’s Live With Kelly and Ryan. 

According to Page Six, Megyn Kelly Today has been struggling to attract steady viewership and thus NBC has allegedly been thinking about having Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford take over her time slot. The outlet reported that Megyn’s views have been down 32 percent, leaving viewers to switch the channel during her show and not tune back in to Hoda and Kathie’s popular fourth hour segment of Today.

Not only has the former FOX anchor brought down NBC’s ratings but she also has not been getting along with her colleagues, including Savannah Guthrie and Hoda. “Savannah never makes small talk with Megyn and only addresses her professionally,” a source previously told In Touch Weekly. “Hoda’s star has risen while Megyn’s has fallen. She’s ready to exercise her newfound power by telling [Megyn] to get with the program. The feud has turned nasty.”
