Melanie Griffith Reveals She’s Now In “Final Step” To Fix Her Skin Cancer

Actress Melanie Griffith is using her own negative experiences to try and teach others. The 61-year-old recently took to Instagram to share that she’s nearly cancer-free with a mirror selfie of her nose bandaged up.

“Bandaged again after having dermabrasion, the final step to fix the now removed basil cell skin cancer,” she wrote in the caption. “If any of you have it, get it fixed. If you lay in the sun, are exposed to lots of sun, be CAREFUL.”

In a previous interview, Melanie opened up about how her skin cancer battle has worried her. “It’s a scary thing when you’re an actress and you depend on your face for work,” she previously told InStyle. “But I realize I have to put a Band-Aid on it, and it’s fine. I just look like a dork.”

That said, Melanie is still continuing her acting career today — but now, she’s shifting her focus from movies to stage productions. “I think the theater is kinder on a 60-year-old face,” she confessed. “It’s a different deal when you’re older. And we’re old. I don’t mean it badly, and I don’t mean it like, ‘Oh, poor me,’ or anything like that. It’s just a different deal when you’re an older person. It’s different from being the hot stuff to being the old hot stuff.”

In the past, Melanie has been under fire for her plastic surgery — another topic she’s been very vocal about. “People started saying, ‘Oh my God, what has she done?!’ I was so hurt,” she said in a 2017 interview with Porter magazine about her cosmetic procedures. “I went to a different doctor and he started dissolving all of this s–t that this other woman doctor had put in. Hopefully, I look more normal now.” We think you look great, Melanie!
