Mindy Cohn Reveals Five-Year-Long Breast Cancer Battle: “I Kept That Secret for a Long Time”

This is so sad. Facts of Life star Mindy Cohn opened up about her private five-year-long battle with breast cancer in a new interview with People — and our hearts are breaking for the actress.

Back in 2012, Mindy’s life changed forever when she started to not feel good all of a sudden, and as she puts it, she “kept the secret for a long time.” Watch the video below to learn all about her battle with breast cancer.

After Mindy’s scary diagnosis, the 51-year-old — who is also known for her roles in Scooby-Do!, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, The Help, The Kids from Room 402, and more on top of Facts of Life — took a break from acting to recover.

Closer Weekly exclusively chatted with breast cancer survivor Giuliana Rancic recently, who gave her advice for women (like Mindy) going through what she once did. “It was hard. There were moments when I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, how am I going to get through this day?’ And I would just kind of close my eyes and take a deep breath and say, ‘This too shall pass.’ And I would exhale, and it does pass,” she said. “Whatever you’re going through, it will pass. I’ve heard from other women that really helped them, whether they’re at an appointment or going through treatment, that those words have comforted a lot of women as well.”

Fortunately for Mindy, after a long battle, it passed for her, and now she’s cancer-free and healthy! And now that she’s feeling better than ever, she’s ready to get back into showbiz. “I’m feeling great,” she said. “And I’m so ready to get back to working. I think I’m a good actress, and I have a lot to offer. I’m excited to see what I get to do next!” We can’t wait, either!
