NBC Canceled 5 Shows Ahead of 2025-2026 Broadcast Season: Which Ones Got the Axe?

NBC announced that it was the end of the line for five of its shows on May 9, 2025 – and some of them came as a shocker to fans.

Closer reveals which TV series got the axe.

‘Night Court’

Melissa Rauch

The revival of a sitcom from the ‘80s, Night Court premiered on NBC in 2023 and ran for three seasons prior to its cancellation. It followed Judge Abby Stone (Melissa Rauch), the daughter of the late Harry Stone (Harry Anderson), as she “presides over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court and tries to bring order to its crew of oddballs and cynics.”

Three days before the news of its cancellation, Melissa revealed there were questions they wanted to answer in season 4 and that they had a “really spectacular game plan in place.” Unfortunately, it looks like fans won’t get those answers.

‘Found’

Shanola Hampton

Found revolved around “recovery specialist” Gabi Mosely (Shanola Hampton) as she worked to solve the mysteries of missing people’s disappearances across the United States. While it had strong viewership for its premiere in 2023, those numbers dropped in season 2, potentially resulting in the network’s decision not to renew the show.

But there may still be hope! Fans of the series have banded together to voice their frustration with the cancellation and Variety reported that someone with “knowledge of the situation” said the show will be shopped around to other networks and streamers.

‘The Irrational’

Jesse L. Martin

Behavioral science Professor Alec Mercer (Jesse L. Martin) used his “unique expertise in psychology, body language, emotion and more to help solve difficult, high-stakes cases” in NBC’s The Irrational for two seasons.

Despite having a 7.5 out of 10 rating on IMDb and a 73 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it didn’t perform as well with some critics and viewership dropped in season 2.

‘Suits LA’

Stephen Amell

Suits LA – starring Stephen Amell (Arrow), Lex Scott Davis (The First Purge), Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead) and Bryan Greenberg (Bride Wars) – got the axe after only airing one season in early 2025.

Jeff Bader, who serves as the president of NBC’s program planning strategy, explained it just hadn’t “resonated the way we thought it would,” per Variety.

“There can be many, many reasons why, people are speculating why it hasn’t resonated, but it’s just not really showing the potential to grow for us in the future, unfortunately,” he added at the time.

‘Lopez vs. Lopez’

Mayan Lopez, George Lopez

George Lopez’s latest sitcom explored the lives of a formerly estranged father (George Lopez) and daughter (Mayan Lopez) as they navigated “dysfunction, reconnection and all the headaches and joy in between” as they made up “for lost time.”

The show premiered in 2022 and ran for three seasons before its cancellation.

“We will definitely put something out officially, [but] for now, I would really love to thank all of you who have showed us so much love and support for the past three seasons,” George wrote via social media on May 9, 2025. “This wasn’t just a show, it was and is our lives. We created a family … I am forever grateful and thankful for every single member of our #LopezVSLopez familia.”
