Nicole Kidman Snubbed Her Two Adopted Kids During Her Golden Globes Speech

Uh oh. Nicole Kidman took home the Best Actress in a Movie or Limited Series award at the Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 7 and though she thanked her youngest daughters in her acceptance speech, she seemingly snubbed her two adopted kids. When Nicole took the stage to receive her honor, she said, “First cab off the rank, that means my daughters are still awake so [Sunday], Faith, I love you. I’m bringing this home to you babies.”

Sunday, 9, and Faith, 6, are the actress’ two daughters with singer Keith Urban. Nicole is additionally a mom to daughter Isabella, 25, and son Connor, 22, with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise. After the Big Little Lies star spoke about her girls onstage, many people criticize Nicole for failing to mention her older kids in her speech. “Nicole Kidman’s continued refusal to acknowledge that she has more than two children seriously makes me sick,” one person wrote on Twitter, according to Page Six, with another adding, “Nicole thanked her mom, named her sisters, mentioned her ‘two daughters’ with Keith Urban, by name, but did not mention her children with Tom Cruise. WTF? #GoldenGlobes.”

This interestingly isn’t the first time Nicole has been called out for thanking Sunday and Faith and not Isabella and Connor during an award show. Back in September, the 50-year-old star left the Cruise kids out of her Emmy Awards acceptance speech. “I have two little girls, Sunday and Faith, and my darling Keith. This is yours. I want my little girls to have this on their shelf and to look at it and go, ‘Every time my mommy didn’t put me to bed, it’s because of this. I got something!’” she said at the time. However, a few months later in November, Nicole did mention her “four extraordinary children” while onstage at the Glamour Woman of the Year awards.

Nicole’s relationship with her older children has been seemingly complicated for years and the subject of much speculation. In 2007, she told GMTV that Connor and Isabella call her Nicole instead of mom. And in 2010, she revealed that they’d chosen to live with their dad following her 2001 divorce from Tom. To this day, many people believe that the Church of Scientology — which Tom, Isabella, and Connor are members of — has forced a wedge between Nicole (who is not a member) and her adopted kids.
