ONE

The number of dollars an Oscar winner must offer to sell his or her statuette back to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences before selling the award to a third party. Oscars awarded after 1950 are bound by this agreement and statuettes are considered property of the Academy unless it waives its ownership.

TWO

The number of words uttered during the shortest Oscars acceptance speech ever! In 1963, Best Actress winner Patty Duke (pictured above left), simply said “Thank You” after collecting her statuette.

THREE

The number of animated films that have been nominated for the Best Picture honor — Beauty and the Beast in 1991, Up in 2009 and Toy Story 3 in 2010.

FOUR

The record for most acting Academy Awards won by a single person is held by Katharine Hepburn, who was honored four times for her performances in Morning Glory (1933), Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner (1967), The Lion in Winter (1968) and On Golden Pond (1982).

The approximate length in minutes of Greer Garson‘s 1943 Best Actress acceptance speech. The star (pictured above center) holds the record for the longest acceptance speech ever given.

EIGHT

The record for highest number of Oscar nominations without a win is held by the late Peter O’Toole, who received eight noms before winning an honorary Academy Award in 2002. He sadly passed away in December 2013.

TEN

The number of movie musicals that have won the Best Picture Oscar. The last to win was 2002’s Chicago, which starred Catherine Zeta-Jones, Richard Gere and Renée Zellweger.

ELEVEN

The record for highest number of Oscars awarded to a single film is currently held by three flicks: 1997's Titanic, 1959's Ben-Hur, and 2003's The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

TWELVE

Amount of Oscar award categories that have been eliminated since the first ceremony in 1929. Some of these lost honors include Best Dance Direction and Best Unique and Artistic Quality of a Production.

Length in minutes of the shortest (and first ever!) Oscars, which took place on May 16, 1929.

NINETEEN

The highest number of Academy Award ceremonies hosted by one person. Bob Hope currently holds this record, followed by nine-time host Billy Crystal.

TWENTY-ONE

The highest number of acting nominations for a single person, a record held by Meryl Streep! Jack Nicholson is the most nominated male actor ever with 12 noms.
