Patrick Dempsey may be known as Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd to fans on Grey’s Anatomy, but he plays a much bigger role off-screen: He’s the loving father of three wonderful kids. After tying the knot with wife Jillian Fink in 1999, the iconic actor went on to become the proud dad of Talula, Sullivan and Darby.

Patrick and the Crew actress started their family when they welcomed their eldest child, daughter Talula, in 2002. The Made of Honor star and Jillian seemingly relished in their new lives as a dad and mom as they waited nearly four years before expanding their family. In 2007, the couple completed their clan when their twin sons, Darby and Sullivan, arrived.

Talula Fyfe Dempsey

Patrick and Jillian welcomed their first child, Talula, on February 20, 2002. In addition to attending numerous public events with her family, she often makes appearances on her dad’s social media.

While once chatting with People, Patrick revealed the blonde beauty is the most artistic of his kids. “Talula loves cooking,” he shared with the outlet. “She’s incredibly creative.”

The Can’t Buy Me Love star also pointed out the difficulties of watching his daughter grow up. “You go from a baby girl walking around in dresses to junior high and then high school,” he dished. “It’s a big transition. You have to weather the storm!”

Talula started her first year of college in Washington in 2020. Patrick shared in an October 2020 interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Talula missed out on several milestones during her last year of high school. The Dempsey family threw their own at-home prom to celebrate the teen’s senior year.

“We did a mock sort of prom at the house … it was a Saturday night,” he said. “It was so sad, as a parent, you’re like, ‘Oh my God, my heart breaks for you; you don’t have that moment’ … to see her all dressed up, and then she got on Zoom with all her friends and they got together.”

On February 1, 2007, the loving pair welcomed twin boys Sullivan and Darby. While the adorable teens have trailed along to some red carpet events, they mainly are spotted with their mom and dad on Instagram and Twitter. Patrick has even shared a handful of pics on fun outings with his boys!

Although Sullivan and Darby are twins, Patrick once revealed they aren’t exactly alike. “Darby is passionate about [soccer],” he shared with People. “Sullivan wants to be an actor.”

Just like their famous dad, Darby and Sullivan are already comfortable in front of the camera. Jillian recruited the twins in 2019 to model for her hair pomade collection, Roadie. The duo looked exactly like Patrick in the adorable photos.

It looks like we’ll have to see what path they take as they continue to grow up!
