Pattie Boyd Recalls Life With George Harrison and Eric Clapton
Three of rock music’s greatest love songs, “Something,” “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight,” were written about Pattie Boyd, the British model turned photographer who was at the center of a legendary love triangle with George Harrison and Eric Clapton.
During her marriages to George (1966–1977) and Eric (1979–1988), Pattie, 70, captured their private lives in photographs, many of which are on display at the San Francisco Art Exchange.

“I wasn’t sure if some of my photographs were too intimate,” Pattie, who wrote about her life in her 2007 autobiography, ‘Wonderful Tonight,’ tells ‘Closer.’ “Eric and George are just relaxed, at home, doing what they do.”
Most often, that meant writing songs. “They were quite similar — when they were home, they would always be playing a guitar, constantly looking for their next melody,” she remembers.

Although her marriages ended in divorce, after substance abuse and infidelity caused her heartache, Pattie has no regrets.
“We were all pretty young and most of the madness occurred before we were even 30,” she says.
