We couldn’t be happier about having Peta Murgatroyd back as a professional dancer on Dancing With the Stars! While attending the live premiere of the beloved competition, the Australian Latin dancer was spotted spending some quality time with her husband, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and their 2-year-old son, Shai, during the taping of the show on Monday, September 16.

When it was announced the 33-year-old would return to the cast as a professional dancer for season 28, Peta opened up about making her way back to the DWTS stage after being absent from the competition for two seasons. “I’m overwhelmed with excitement,” the proud mama gushed to Us Weekly in late August. “I’m excited and happy to be back with my family. Honestly, I just missed everybody so much!”

The Faith, Hope and Love actress looked super gorgeous as she hung backstage at the live premiere of DWTS. Peta was all smiles as she enjoyed some quality time with her handsome hubby and little man as she awaited her turn to hit the stage.

The sweet couple trailed behind little Shai as he rambunctiously ran around. The 39-year-old dad even carried animal-print balloons for his adorable son to play with.

Peta and Maksim — who celebrated their second wedding anniversary this past July — even managed to sneak in a quick, passionate kiss!

During the premiere, the Mirrorball Champion — who is paired with former basketball star Lamar Odom for season 28 — looked absolutely incredible as she danced along to her first DWTS performance in two years. Sadly, Peta and Lamar only scored 11/30 after judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli gave him 3s, while Carrie Ann Inaba scored Lamar with a 5.

Although returning to the show could seem intimidating, Peta told Us that the timing couldn’t have been any more perfect. “I definitely wanted this to happen. I hoped that I could make this work for a couple of months now and was praying and hoping that it would all align,” she told the publication. “It was the perfect time for my family. Maks has other things going on and Shai is well taken care of and it was just a good time for us.”

Following the premiere, the blonde beauty and her hunky husband were spotted grabbing a bite to eat at Cleo Restaurant in Los Angeles. The adorable pair looked super fashionable as they walked hand in hand while leaving the popular Mediterranean place.

With Maksim by her side, we have no doubt Peta will absolutely crush this season. “I think we’re both very hardworking, passionate people. We both don’t come from money, so whatever we have here is what we did for ourselves,” she gushed of her and her husband’s work ethic during a September 2018 interview with Health magazine. “And I feel really grateful, because I haven’t had one thing handed to me.”
