Pink Defends Photo of Her Children Running Around the Holocaust Memorial as a ‘Celebration of Life’

During Pink’s recent trip to Berlin with her family, she photographed her children playing in the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe as a “celebration of life after death.” In true Pink fashion, she fiercely defended the photo at the Holocaust Memorial before the mom-shamers could prey on the image.

On Sunday, July 14, the 39-year-old took to Instagram to share a picture of daughter Willow, 8 and Jameson, 2, being, well kids, at the landmark. “Berlin, I love you. #holocaustmemorial #panamarestaurant #cocktailclasses #history #herstory #worldtour,” wrote the songstress. “And for all of the comments; these two children are in actuality Jewish, as am I and the entirety of my mother’s family. The very person who constructed this believed in children being children, and to me this is a celebration of life after death. Please keep your hatred and judgment to yourselves.”

Pink defended her choice to let her children play in the landmark that is typically seen as a somber place to honor those that were lost. Many people were quick to criticize the image, stating that a memorial of such nature isn’t a place for fun and games. “Τhis place is not definitely a hide and seek place, dear Pink,” read one comment.

Although some comments were critical of Pink’s outlook, others were on board to celebrate life with her. One commenter stated that the architect of the monument, Peter Eisenman, wanted visitors to “behave freely, and he said he can imagine it as place where children play between the pillars or picnic on the fringes. He made it clear that he wants it to be part of everyday life rather than a holy place.”

“This picture, the architectural design was meant to reflect this, this life that we are, because we defied the intention of annihilation,” read another comment. “I love you, Pink. I respect you deeply.”

The “Get the Party Started” singer has been outspoken on a variety of injustices in today’s society, one of which being the treatment of the Jewish people. “I have always identified with people that struggle, and maybe it is because I am a Jew,” Pink once said at a Human Rights Campaign. “Maybe it is because I don’t hold the warped belief that my way is the only way or the better way.”

Pink has developed a reputation for taking no BS on social media, especially from the “parent police”. Most recently she defended a photo of her children playing outside and another of her son playing without pants. We love Pink for standing up for what she believes in and for being an all-around badass.
