Prince Charles Finally Meets His Newest Grandson Prince Louis!

Grandpa’s here! Prince Charles met his adorable newborn grandson, Prince Louis, on Wednesday, May 2, at Kensington Palace. The royal visited Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s family just in time for Princess Charlotte’s third birthday as well.

Since Louis’ birth on Monday, April 23, Charles has been at his Scottish Highlands retreat in Birkhall, Scotland. After that, he was in France for Anzac Day on April 25. He then returned back to Scotland and has been there ever since.

Oddly enough, Charles visited the bundle of joy without his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, who went on Tuesday, May 1, the same day as Louis’ great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth.

Although we don’t know many details about their encounter (we imagine Prince George and Princess Charlotte loved having him over, too), we bet Charles is so happy that one of Louis’ middle names is Charles.

It was previously reported that Charles actually doesn’t get to spend a lot of time with his grandchildren amid all his public duties. “William chose the Middletons as his surrogate family long ago, even before the children were born. He has nailed his colors to the mast in that respect,” a source once revealed. “Let’s just say [The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge] haven’t really done anything to make it easy for him. Charles does the best he can, but there are constraints.”

The source added, “Does every grandparent want to see more of their grandchildren? Of course they do. But the Prince understands that mothers naturally gravitate towards their own families. And he acknowledges that he is in a unique position which means his time is not often his own.” Hopefully royal baby number three means more time for Charles and his grandkids!
