Prince Charles Will Reportedly Be First Member Of Royal Family To Ever Visit Cuba

Hey Cuba, gear up because Prince Charles is reportedly headed your way.

While members of the royal family have been everywhere it seems, the one place a royal member has never step foot in is Cuba. But that may all change according to a new report that states Charles is set to visit Cuba in 2019. While the tour has not officially been confirmed, the planning is said to be in the early stages. Although government officials from both countries are “extremely hopeful” it will happen, with next spring being a possibility, according to Daily Mail.

The 70-year-old has allegedly already met with the new Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, at Clarence House last month, so a visit to Cuba seems likely. If Charles does find himself in Cuba, it seems he may point to Britain as a potential trade partner. Charles may also discuss climate change and environmental issues while in the country. If Charles ends up stepping foot in Cuba, he will do so alongside his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

The last visit to Cuba that was known worldwide was back in 2016 when then president Barack Obama became the first US president to visit the country in 88 years. Barack lifted trade sanctions which made it easier for Americans to trade and do business there. But things have changed since then…

No word yet if Charles would end up taking any of his kids with him to Cuba, but perhaps he would consider taking Prince William who was recently in Cyprus with Kate Middleton. Would be quite something for both dads to visit Cuba and drop dad jokes on everyone. But as of now Clarence House has not commented yet on a potential 2019 visit to Cuba. Stay tuned!
