Prince Harry Reportedly Bought Prince Louis a Nearly $11,000 Christening Gift

What a great uncle! Prince Harry attended his new nephew Prince Louis’ christening on Monday, July 9 —and he made sure he gave the two-month-old the best gift to celebrate. According to The Sun, the Duke of Sussex bought the royal baby a nearly $11,000 first edition of Winnie-The-Pooh.

The outlet reports Harry’s gift is the start of a book collection he’s creating for the young royal in honor of the late Princess Diana. “One of Harry’s happiest childhood memories was being read a bedtime story by his mother,” a friend shared. “She loved all the old classics and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, [and his siblings], Princess Charlotte, and Prince George to enjoy as they get older.”

The A.A. Milne book was published back in 1926 along with 30,000 other copies. The Sun reports that Harry bought the novel from Peter Harrington, a store containing rare books in London. But Winne-The-Pooh wasn’t the 33-year-old royal’s first pick.

“He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking Glass, which was on sale for [$31, 810], but decided Winnie-The-Pooh would be more suitable,” the insider said, adding that Harry and Louis’ dad, Prince William, have different taste in books. “Robinson Crusoe was William’s favorite book, but Harry loved all things A.A. Milne,” the source shared.

Harry arrived to St. James’s Palace earlier today with his new wife, Meghan Markle, and the rest of the royal family for Louis’ baptism. He looked dapper next to Meghan, who sported a green Ralph Lauren dress for the special event. And even though the royal couple is not Louis’ godparents (Prince William and Kate Middleton chose six other friends and family members), they both looked so happy to be there. We bet Louis loved his gift, too!
