Prince Harry Wants to Follow in His Mother Diana’s Footsteps ‘When It Comes to Raising Archie’
It has been more than 20 years since Princess Diana passed away, but her son Prince Harry is still being impacted by her, as he hopes to bring up his first child like his mom raised him.
“Diana was a fantastic mom and very hands-on,” a source exclusively tells Closer Weekly. “Harry remembers all the fun times they had as a family — Trips to Thorpe Park, skiing in Europe and much more, and wants to follow in her footsteps when it comes to raising Archie — always being there for him and giving him a loving, normal upbringing.”
“He couldn’t have asked for a better mom and even though she isn’t here today knows she would’ve been proud of him,” the insider added.
The late Princess of Wales, who died at the age of 36, was not there to see Harry, 34, or her other son Prince William, welcome their own kids into the world, but it is clear that her two boys still have their mom on their mind. While on a recent trip to the Netherlands, the Duke of Sussex had a chat with former soldier Dennis van der Stroon, and the conversation turned to mothers and how they both have lost theirs.
“I told Harry about my mother and we talked about our shared experience of missing a mom,” Dennis revealed, according to Hello! magazine. “He said missing a mother is like missing some kind of security, how you need that as a son and it falls away when you lose your mother. He said he meets a lot of people in his work who have lost a mother, father, sister, brother or relatives and when he hears their story, as he heard my story, he said he doesn’t feel so alone.”
Harry is new to fatherhood, as his wife, Meghan Markle, gave birth to their first child, baby Archie on May 6. The royal baby’s name has ties to his grandmother, as Archibald Campbell, 9th Earl of Argyll, the chief of Clan Campbell was a Scottish nobleman, politician, and peer who was a notable ancestor of Diana.
