Royal Fans Are Curious If Prince Philip Ever Cheated on Queen Elizabeth

For the past 70 years, yes 70 years, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip have been married. Not only that, they’ve been one of the most adorable and long-lasting couples well, ever. But, royal fans still have one question about the royal duo after Philip skipped Trooping the Colour on Saturday, June 9: did Philip cheat on Elizabeth and have an affair?

Let’s be real, Philip, 97, was a handsome young lad, so it wouldn’t be the craziest thing ever to think that women would be attracted to him. However, it’s never been proven or confirmed that he was disloyal to Elizabeth, 92. But that doesn’t mean there haven’t been rumors.

One woman Philip was linked to? Actress Pat Kirkwood. Kirkwood always denied the talk that they had any sort of romantic involvement, but the speculation led them to be called “the prince and the showgirl.” Eek! When Elizabeth was very pregnant with Prince Charles, Philip allegedly barged into Kirkwood’s dressing room. She later said, according to her close friend Michael Thorton: “A lady is not normally expected to defend her honor. It is the gentleman who should do that. I would have had a happier and easier life if Prince Philip, instead of coming uninvited to my dressing room, had gone home to his pregnant wife on the night in question.” Awkward.

And if you thought that was the only hiccup in their marriage, you are wrong. Philip has also been said to be involved with the Duchess of Abercorn, who has candidly spoken out about him in the past. “I did not go to bed with him. He isn’t like that,” she’s shared of Philip. As far as if he’s been with her friends? “I doubt it very much. No, I’m sure not… But he’s a human being. Who knows? I don’t. Unless you are in the room with a lighted candle, who knows?”

Philip has also been associated with TV personality Katie Boyle, Princess Alexandra (who’s Elizabeth’s cousin, so weird), actress Merle Oberon, singer Hélène Cordet, and novelist Daphne du Maurier, but no one has ever admitted to anything.

The dad-of-four’s response to all this? “Good God, woman,” he once said. “Have you ever stopped to think that for years, I have never moved anywhere without a policeman accompanying me? So how the hell could I get away with anything like that?” True, Philip. We’ll just go back to thinking you and Elizabeth are the most perfect couple ever!
