Prince William Jokes Kate Middleton Was ‘Jealous’ Of His ‘Uninterrupted Nights’ Sleep’ During Africa Trip

Who else can relate to this? Prince William visited Africa on Tuesday, Sept. 25., and during the speaking engagement in Namibia, the 36-year-old royal proved that he loves pushing his wife Kate Middleton‘s buttons (in a fun way, of course).

“I’m delighted to be visiting Namibia for the first time. I’m only sorry that my wife, Catherine, is not able to join me. She is immensely jealous,” he quipped at the British High Commissioner’s reception. “Particularly because I’m looking forward to a few good uninterrupted nights’ sleep this week away from my wonderful children.”

William and Kate — who famously wed in April 2011 — are parents to son George, 5, daughter Charlotte, 3, and son Prince Louis, 5 months.

But just because Will was able to escape for a few days doesn’t mean he doesn’t love being a dad. In a recent interview, he gushed about fatherhood.  “I’m concentrating very much on my role as a father,” he once revealed to the BBC. “I’m a new father, and I take my duties and my responsibilities to my family very seriously.”

He added, “I want to bring my children up as good people with the idea of service and duty to others as very important. But if I can’t give my time to my children as well, I worry about their future.” In fact, he’s so good at his job that he’s offering advice to his newlywed brother, Prince Harry!

Kate has also been vocal about the challenges of motherhood. “Personally, becoming a mother has been such a rewarding and wonderful experience. However, at times it has also been a huge challenge — even for me who has support at home that most mothers do not,” she has said.

The 36-year-old continued, “Nothing can really prepare you for you the sheer overwhelming experience of what it means to become a mother. It is full of complex emotions of joy, exhaustion, love and worry, all mixed together. Your fundamental identity changes overnight. You go from thinking of yourself as primarily an individual to suddenly being a mother, first and foremost.” Kate is expected to return from maternity leave on Tuesday, Oct. 2. We can’t wait to see her and William back in action again soon!
