Princess Diana Would be "Incredibly Proud" of Kate Middleton and Her Royal Family - Closer Weekly

Kate Middleton is carrying on Princess Diana‘s legacy in a very special way.

“[Diana] would be incredibly proud [of Kate],” the People’s Princess’ close friend Rosa Monckton told [People](https://www.people.com/people/package/article/0,,2039522220995369,00.html)_ in a new interview.

Since Kate, 34, married in to the royal family in April 2011, the Duchess of Cambridge has been dedicated to continuing Diana’s charity work, especially with organizations that help children. Prince William‘s wife is also primarily raising the couple’s two children, Prince George, 2, and Princess Charlotte, 11 months, outside of the royal spotlight — much like Diana previously tried to do with her sons, William and Prince Harry.

“To be able to give their children a stable life in the country is worth so much,” Monckton added of William and Kate’s decision to live at the royal family’s country estate, Amner Hall, with George and Charlotte. “The [kids] have a lifetime of flashbulbs ahead of them.”

For many people close to the royals, it’s no surprise Kate has decided to follow in Princess Diana‘s footsteps in the years following her death at age 36 from a 1997 car crash. “What other role models does Kate have within the royal family?” Diana’s former bodyguard Ken Wharfe told People. “She hasn’t been given the book about how to be a princess.”
