Queen Elizabeth Has Adopted Another Furry Friend — Meet Her New Corgi, Whisper!

Another dog has been added to Queen Elizabeth‘s beloved brood of corgis! The 91-year-old monarch recently adopted a new dog named Whisper, according to People.

Whisper’s previous owner was the Queen’s long time gatekeeper of her Sandringham Estate, Bill Fenwick. Unfortunately, Bill passed away at age 93 earlier this year so Whisper was looking for a new home. Before Bill’s death, Queen Elizabeth would reportedly take the gamekeeper’s dogs on walks around her property and thus got to know her new pet very well.

“She couldn’t resist Whisper,” a source told The Sun. “Now she has asked Bill’s family if she can keep him.” Queen Elizabeth is already a pet parent to three corgis named Willow, Vulcan, and Candy. She also had a dog named Holly who sadly passed away last October.

Several years ago, Queen Elizabeth reportedly decided to no longer breed any more of her Pembroke Welsh corgis for fears of who may take care of them in the future. “The Queen has always had corgis but she made the decision four years ago not to breed anymore because she didn’t want to have a bad fall,” a source previously revealed. “She was also concerned dogs might be left without an owner if anything happened to her.”

Prince Harry’s grandmother was first introduced to the Pembroke Welsh corgi breed back in 1933. Soon after, Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, gifted her and her sister, Princess Margaret, their first dog, a corgi named Dookie. Queen Elizabeth is estimated to have welcomed more than 30 corgis into her royal family since then — how cute!

According to several outlets, Queen Elizabeth’s favorite corgi was Susan, who was given to her on her 18th birthday in 1944. The monarch was so in love with little Susan that she even brought the pet on her honeymoon with Prince Philip. We’re sure her latest dog, Whisper, will love living with the Queen!
