Queen Elizabeth Is Hiring a New Chef — Here’s Your Chance to Live in Buckingham Palace!

If you know your way around the kitchen, you may want to check out the latest job listing on the royal family’s website. Queen Elizabeth is looking to hire a new chef for Buckingham Palace — and one of the major work perks is getting to live there! According to the listing, the “position offers live-in accommodation with meals provided.” Who doesn’t dream of this?!

The listing is for a “Demi Chef de Partie,” which is a station chef who works in one specific section of the kitchen. “In our state-of-the-art kitchens, you’ll prepare classical and contemporary menus for a wide range of events, learning essential skills that will provide stepping stones for a great career,” the job description reads. “Joining our accomplished and close-knit team, you’ll work hands-on to deliver food to the very highest standards. Working with quality ingredients and highly skilled colleagues, you’ll develop specific technical skills, rotating through all sections of the kitchen. Every day will be different. You’ll prepare receptions and state dinners, as well as staff lunches.” We’re sold!

The royal family is looking for “an ambitious and qualified chef” who pays attention to detail, knows how to work on a team, and has a “clear passion for food and the catering industry.” Does this sound like you? The starting salary for the role is $27,709.16 and includes a “comprehensive benefits package, including 33 days holiday (inclusive of England’s Bank Holidays), a 15 percent employer contribution pension scheme (with the option for flexibility — to increase contributions or draw down as salary), all meals provided, training and development, as well as a range of recreational facilities.” Plus, you’ll be provided with living accommodations in Buckingham Palace and will be cooking food for the royal family. All sounds like a pretty good deal!

With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s wedding coming up soon in May, we can’t help but think this person might also be helping to cook the royal wedding meal. To whomever gets hired: no pressure!
