Biographer Says Queen Elizabeth ‘Speaks in Riddles’ and Uses ‘Nicknames for Everyone’

So it certainly sounds like Queen Elizabeth likes to have a good time! A royal biographer has claimed that the monarch isn’t always formal all the time, as she also likes to keep things casual when the moment calls for it — she even has a nickname for everyone!

“I have met the queen on many occasions and she is, again, she is different depending on the circumstances,” Ingrid Seward, the Editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, said recently on the Yahoo online series, Royal Box. “If you meet her officially she’s formal, and tiny and beautiful. And you talk about horses. That’s what I can always talk about with her.” But things are very different when the queen, 92, is in a more relaxed setting.

“When I met her at a semi-private party, and everyone had a nickname — she spoke in riddles and this is what it feels like to be one of her friends,” Seward said. Then again, perhaps Prince Philip‘s wife is a lot more casual than what she showcases. In fact, she did post on Instagram recently for the first time ever — and had quite the caption.

“Today, as I visit the Science Museum, I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert,” she wrote in the post alongside a photo of the letter. “Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the ‘Difference Engine,’ of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843. In the letter, Babbage told Queen Victoria and Prince Albert about his invention the ‘Analytical Engine’ upon which the first computer programmes were created by Ada Lovelace, a daughter of Lord Byron.”

At the moment, the post has close to 300K likes, so it’s pretty clear that royal fans enjoy when Prince Harry and Prince William‘s grandma lets down her hair once in a while. And now to wait to hear how she acts at clubs (just kidding!).
