BREAKINGFamily Reveals “Unforgettable” Singer Natalie Cole’s Cause of Death
Just days after Natalie Cole‘s passing, the cause of death for the iconic R&B and jazz singer has finally been revealed.
According to a statement released by the family, she died as a result of heart failure brought on by idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension.

“This is a very serious and progressive disorder,” her family said. “[Natalie] responded well to PAH-specific agents over many years, during which she performed many concerts world-wide, but eventually succumbed to intractable right heart failure, an outcome that unfortunately commonly occurs in this progressive disorder, despite modern therapies.”
Natalie — whose hits songs include “Unforgettable,” “This Will Be” and “Inseparable” — suffered from many health problems throughout her life. She revealed a lifelong battle with substance abuse in her 2000 memoir, Angel on My Shoulder, and underwent a kidney transplant in 2008 after being diagnosed with Hepatitis C.
