Rod Stewart Feels ‘Indescribable’ Love for His Grandkids: He Wants to ‘Stay Around as Long as Possible’
Rod Stewart has just become a grandfather for the fourth time following the birth of his son Liam Stewart’s second baby — with a fifth on the way thanks to daughter Kimberly Stewart – and a source says he’s been showering all the youngsters in his life with love and gifts while pledging to be as hands-on and involved in their upbringings as possible.
“There was a time that Rod worried he’d never become a grandfather, so he feels incredibly lucky to be so blessed,” the source exclusively tells Closer. “He says the love he feels for his grandchildren is indescribable. He wants to stay around as long as possible so that he can watch them all grow up.”
“Being with his grandkids, and his kids of course, is his biggest joy these days, that’s why he wanted to celebrate his birthday with a big family vacation, there is nothing that makes him happier,” the source notes. “He dotes on them and is such a softie, it’s really heartwarming to see. He’s always been that way with his kids too, just so devoted, but it’s on another level with his grandkids, he gets teary eyed just talking about them. Being able to make sure they are all set up for life, long after he’s gone is super important to him, they’ve all got trust funds and will never want for a thing thanks to his hard work.”
Rod celebrated his 80th birthday on January 10 with a surprise party thrown by his wife, Penny Lancaster. The rocker also spent time with his family on a nice boat trip in a gorgeous tropical location.
“Rod has always loved the good life, and these days being able to share it with all his loved ones is what makes him happiest,” a second insider previously told Closer in January of the birthday celebrations for the “Sailing” singer. “He invited all of his kids and their partners and their kids, and then rented the biggest yacht he could find to carry them all around the Caribbean for the vacation of his dreams.”

“He loves spoiling his kids and feels so grateful to have such a loving family around him,” the second insider previously said. “He also feels blessed to be 80 and feeling in such great shape. Despite what people might say about him slowing down or being past his prime, he insists he’s still going strong and says he has more juice than punks a fraction of his age.”
He has eight kids with five women, including his youngest sons, Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 13, with Penny, 54. Rod became a grandfather of four when Liam announced the arrival of his daughter, Elsie Skylar Stewart, in an Instagram post with his wife, Nicole Stewart. The pair are also parents to son Louie, who was born in May 2023.
“Elsie Skylar Stewart. Our sweet little pea born 03/02/25,” the couple captioned the post with a pink heart emoji.
“So adorable,” Penny commented on the post. “Can’t wait to meet Louie’s little sister Elsie.”
