Rosie O’Donnell Is Reportedly Gunning For Julie Chen’s Co-Host Chair On ‘The Talk’

It was a sad day when Julie Chen announced that she would be leaving The Talk for good on Sept. 18. And while it’s definitely hard to imagine another celebrity sitting in her chair next to co-hosts Eve, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, and Sheryl Underwood, the show must ultimately go on.

CBS has reportedly been screening a few possible candidates for the position but, according to a new report from Life & Style, Rosie O’Donnell already thinks that she has the job! “Rosie is getting a lot of buzz because she has the most experience and knows how to make headlines,” a source told the magazine. “There’s just one problem: She can get too political.”

Rosie, 56, is apparently very confident that she will be the new co-host because her recent guest appearance on The Talk went really well. On Sept. 28, Rosie stopped by the daytime talk show and looked very comfortable on-stage. She also kept the audience entertained and was able to have seemingly pleasing and invigorating conversations with the co-hosts.

Rosie acted as if she was born for the job, but allegedly Sara, Eve, Sharon, and Sheryl “are all leaning toward Chrissy Teigen or Ann Curry” for Julie’s replacement. The insider added, “but right now, it’s still anyone’s game.”

When Julie, 48, announced her exit earlier this fall, she also hinted that she would like to have Carrie Ann Inaba replace her on the daytime talk show. “Carrie Ann, I don’t know — but in my opinion, you look awful good sitting in that chair, my Asian sister,” she said on-air at the time.

Julie decided to leave The Talk after her husband, Les Moonves, was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women. Shortly after Les, 68, was accused, he left his job as CEO of CBS on Sept. 9. Despite the troubling news, Julie has decided to stay by her husband’s side.
