Does Ryan Seacrest Want to Get Married? Everything He Has Said About Marriage and Finding Love 

On Getting Engaged 

In May 2017, Ryan got candid during an episode of his ABC talk show with cohost Kelly Ripa about why he has never popped the question to any of his former flames but has gotten close. 

“I love the idea [of getting married],” he explained at the time. “I know you’re going to ask me of marriage because my parents have been married for 47 years, and so I have this thing … I figure the longer I wait, the older I’ll be, the closer to death I am, so I can get it in, and not screw it up.”

He began dating wellness influencer Shayna in 2013. The pair split for the first time the following year. They decided to give things another shot in 2016. They broke up briefly again in 2019 but rekindled things once more that year. He gave the model a special shout-out during an episode of Live in May 2020.

“I just want to say, happy third anniversary to Shayna,” he said. “It is our third time together. So we’ve gotten together, broken up, gotten together, broken up. This is No. 3 of being together. So we’re celebrating as well.”

The pair broke up for the third time in early 2020 after more than seven years of dating on and off. 

“Ryan and Shayna decided to end their romantic relationship amicably some time ago,” a rep for Ryan told Us Weekly in June 2020. “They remain good friends, each other’s biggest supporters and will always cherish their time together as a couple.”

On His Working Relationships

While Kelly was on vacation from Live in August 2020, Ryan brought in Sisanie Villaclara to serve as his temporary cohost. He explained how his relationship with Sisanie, who also works on his radio show, and his relationship with Kelly, is just like having two “work wives.”

“We spend five hours a day on the radio,” Ryan said. “Another thing that Sisanie and I talk about often is the fact that spending an hour a day with Kelly and spending many hours with you, it’s like I have this fulfillment in the relationship category.”

On Balancing His Career and Relationships

In May 2020, Ryan opened up about juggling his busy schedule after hosting the season 18 American Idol finale from home at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“There were five daily responsibilities. You lose the balance and you are drained by the end of every day and you’ve gotta go do it again the next day,” he said at the time, per Metro U.K. “So, that’s always been a tough struggle. I mean, maybe it’s perhaps why I’m not married now. So thank you for this therapy!”

On Celebrating Love

The television star and his On-Air cohosts always talk about a wide array of topics including love and relationships. During a February 2022 episode, Ryan had listeners swooning when he suggested that there should be another holiday, like Valentine’s Day, where love is celebrated globally.

“Give us a day to just focus on love. Nationwide, worldwide” he said. “We don’t have a day where we actually celebrate the good, celebrate the love that comes through human relationships.”

On Pressure

Ryan addressed speculation about whether or not he planned to get married during an April 2022 episode of Live with guest cohost Lisa Rinna. “I’m happy. I’m happy in the present moment,” he said during the about feeling pressured by those around him about marriage. “I don’t think about everything else.”

“I think having kids at the right time would be great,” Ryan added. “I have a fantastic family, very small family.”
