Sam Champion Is Moving Out of NYC Apartment With Iconic Rooftop Garden for This Reason
Say it ain’t so! Sam Champion revealed that posting the dreamy photos of his glorious rooftop garden in New York City will be coming to a halt as he plans on saying goodbye to the property. The meteorologist announced that he is moving out of his iconic apartment with his husband, Rubem Robierb.
“It’s the last spring in the #rooftopgardenNYC ! I need to do some general plant care because all of these bushes, and trees, will be going to friends for their gardens!” he captioned a shirtless photo while tending to the rooftop garden on Sunday, April 20.
In his caption, Sam, 63, then clarified the reason why he was going to have to say goodbye to all of his plants.
“For those of you who ask why we are giving this up… We’re moving downtown to be closer to our new Disney Headquarters and I just haven’t found a great space with a rooftop garden…(feel free to reach out if you know of one in the financial district) ! Rubem and I will continue to look for a few more days, but we are just about ready to make our decision on where our new home will be! Happy Easter !!!” he wrote.
Fans of the Good Morning America personality have gotten so used to seeing glimpses of his rooftop garden posted on Instagram over the years.
“You’re going to miss them! They’re all so beautiful & gardening is so good for de-stressing. All the best to you both in your new home. Did you notice how I love change,” one person commented on Sam’s post.
“Oh that’s so sad there won’t be a garden in your new place. I’m sure your plants will be well loved with friends,” another follower said.
Someone else commented, saying, “Sexiest gardener EVER!”
“Happy Easter! Will miss your beautiful garden as I’m sure you will! Hope you find a new one!” someone else wrote, as another said, “I’m going to miss your rooftop garden but I’m sure your new home will be just as inviting!”

“You two deserve to get what you want and I hope it happens for you,” another fan commented, while someone else said, “I have always enjoyed your roof top garden. I will miss it.”
“Happy Easter Sam and Rubem! Will miss your posts from the rooftop garden. Hope you find your new happy home! Love the dog statue,” someone else commented.
Disney previously opened up a new headquarters at 7 Hudson Square, with several of ABC’s shows moving into their new studios in the building, including The View and Live With Kelly and Mark. In March, Adweek reported that GMA was officially set to move into their new studio in the building in June. The show’s current studio is located in Times Square.
Sam and Rubem, 48, split their time between Miami and NYC, with the ABC anchor frequently traveling back and forth to his homes on his days off. Last summer, he revealed in an Instagram post that their Miami home was undergoing some renovations.
“Construction site! Going smoothly,” Sam captioned the June 2024 Instagram post.
