Sara Haines Walks Off ‘The View’ Set After Whoopi Goldberg Makes Shocking Comment During Episode
Sara Haines walked off the set of The View after Whoopi Goldberg’s latest antics on the show, and fans can’t stop talking about it!
During an episode of the talk show on Wednesday, November 13, the cast celebrated Whoopi’s 69th birthday in a special segment. She was presented with a wheel of cheese that had her face carved into it. Whoopi kissed the wheel of cheese as the audience applauded.
“I always wanted my face on cheese,” Sara, 47, told the audience.
“I like to be eaten from time to time,” Whoopi said, which caused Sara to walk off the set of the show in utter shock.
Members of the live studio audience could also be heard audibly gasping at the comment that the Ghost actress made during the segment. Others laughed and clapped as Whoopi looked at the camera in astonishment.
Eventually, Sara made her way back onto the set, and pulled Whoopi in for a hug.
“Never mind,” Whoopi hilariously said. “This is a wheel of authentic Parmigiano Reggiano from Italy, and this has been aged for 24 months and it’s a testament to Italian tradition and quality.”
“So if you would like to win a wheel just like this,” she said, to which Sara added, “and eat Whoopi Goldberg!”
Whoopi revealed that each member of the studio audience would be going home with a wheel of cheese.
Elsewhere in the episode, cohost Joy Behar gifted Whoopi with her annual homemade lasagna that the EGOT winner loves. “Joy makes the greatest lasagna ever,” she said.
Last year, Joy, 82, revealed that the lasagna that she made had gone missing right around Whoopi’s birthday.
“Yesterday I was home looking for [the lasagna], I had made three of them about two weeks ago,” Joy said during a November 2023 episode. “I ate one, me and my husband, I gave one to somebody else and I saved one for you.”
The comedian said that she looked in the back of her freezer for the missing dish but “it was not anywhere to be found.”
“There is a missing lasagna somewhere,” Joy said, to which cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin responded, “Where is the stolen lasagna?”
“I feel like putting out an APB for it [to] find the lasagna!” the Baby Boom actress joked. Joy said that she decided to quickly make Whoopi another lasagna after the first one she made went missing.
“Anyway, enjoy it,” Joy told Whoopi after telling the story.
“I will,” Whoopi responded. She said that her family was already asking about whether or not Joy would be making her annual birthday lasagna.
“But you know what’s gonna happen if you try to touch it,” Whoopi said to her family in a warning. “As a matter of fact, I’m just gonna keep it right here.”
Joy joked that her colleagues were jealous that she made Whoopi a lasagna and that the gesture would “provoke some jealousy amongst the bitches over here.”
“I know you have to earn your lasagna,” Sara said after laughing at the comment. “I’ve only been here for six years!”
“Seven for me and I didn’t get one and it was just last month!” Sunny Hostin said.
