Scarlett Johansson Hints That She Wants to Be Full-Time ‘Today’ Host: ‘I Work Here Now!’
Scarlett Johansson is capturing audiences not only with her movie roles but also as a talk show cohost. The A-lister joined Jenna Bush Hager on Today with Jenna & Friends for the week and hinted that she may want to take on the television gig full-time.
“Scarlett’s gonna come back!” Jenna, 43, teased while wrapping up the Wednesday, January 22, show, and Scarlett, 40, followed up with a quip, “I work here now!”
The audience and crew loudly cheered Scarlett’s name in support of her sticking around permanently. “I’m gonna need to change our graphics,” Jenna enthusiastically said, to which Scarlett gleefully replied, “We need to get all new totes.”
The Marvel star is one of many celebrities that were recruited for a guest cohosting role after the fourth hour’s previous title, Today With Hoda & Jenna, transformed into Today With Jenna & Friends following Hoda Kotb’s departure on Today. Actresses Taraji P. Henson and Eva Longoria have done the job and Kelsea Ballerini and Wynonna Judd are just a few of the music stars who will be filling in next week.
Scarlett kicked off her cohosting gig on January 21. The actress’ twin brother, Hunter Johansson, was slated to stop by the show as well as her husband, Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost.
The Black Widow star is one of six children from a blended family. She and Hunter share siblings Adrian Johansson and Vanessa Johansson from their parents, father Karsten Johansson and mother Melanie Sloan. Scarlett and Hunter, 40, also have an older half-brother, Christian Johansson, whom their father welcomed during a prior marriage, in addition to a younger sister, Fenan Sloan, whom their mother adopted.
Scarlett is also a proud mom of two kids, 10-year-old daughter Rose shared with ex-husband Romain Dauriac, and son Cosmo, 3, whom she shares with Colin, 42.
During one fan-favorite segment on Today with Jenna & Friends, Scarlett and Colin hilariously debated about whether or not it was a good idea to buy the Staten Island Ferry.
On the Thursday, January 23, episode, Scarlett and Jenna took things up a notch by getting piercings together on-air courtesy of two expert piercers from So Gold Studios based in Brooklyn, New York.
“I have a lot of piercings,” the actress spilled. “When I was a kid, I just was into piercings and then I had my eyebrow pierced, my septum, my everything. It was just a thing. And so I think it’s been a minute since I got a piercing, so I’m excited to do it with you.”
Jenna also admitted, “I have five here. I also had my bellybutton for a brief period. It got infected. It wasn’t great.”
Scarlett has certainly been having a blast taking on her new gig. “This is my dream, dream job,” she shared during Thursday’s episode. “It’s my favorite job I’ve ever had! It really is.”
Even former Today sensation Hoda, 60, was envious that Jenna got to host alongside the box office star.
“When I saw Hoda, she was like, ‘You and Scarlett,’ and I said, ‘I know!'” Jenna gushed, “She was like, ‘I know, I’m kind of jealous about it.'”
