‘Shark Tank’ Star Mark Cuban Cherishes Time With His 3 Kids: Meet Alexis, Alyssa and Jake
Mark Cuban is a devoted dad. The businessman and television personality, who is known as one of the main “sharks” on the reality series Shark Tank, is a father of three.
In November 2023, Mark announced he would be leaving Shark Tank after Season 16 — and his main reason for doing so is to spend more time with Alexis, Alyssa and Jake.
When Did Mark Cuban Get Married?
The investor met his now wife, Tiffany Stewart, during a chance encounter at a gym in 1997. At the time, she was working in advertising as a saleswoman.
After five years of dating, Mark and Tiffany got married on September 21, 2002, in front of 20 of their closest friends and family members in Barbados. “It was a very traditional, very elegant, beautiful wedding and reception,” wedding planner Russell Holloway said at the time.
More than 20 years after their wedding, Mark revealed that the couple had a very unconventional proposal. “I was like, ‘Let’s go Whataburger,'” the Dallas Mavericks minority owner recalled in July 2023 of his engagement to Tiffany.
How Many Children Does Mark Cuban Have?
One year after they tied the knot, Mark and Tiffany welcomed their first child, daughter Alexis. In 2006, their family expanded with the addition of daughter Alyssa, and they welcomed son Jake in 2010.
“I try to encourage them just to get into whatever they want,” he told Ellen DeGeneres during a 2021 virtual appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “The way to really be successful in my mind is just being able to get excited about something that you wake up every day looking forward to. And then if you can get really good at it, and you want to make money at it, you can. And that’s what I try to teach my kids: find something you love to do.”
During an appearance on Today With Hoda & Jenna in November 2022, Mark talked more about how he and his wife raise their children. “I’m not the type of dad, and my wife is the same way, where we’re just bringing home presents and you don’t have to do anything,” he said. “We’re really consistent in [telling them] that they have to accomplish these things on their own. You don’t want to be Mark Cuban’s son or daughter your entire life. You want to be Alexis or Jake or Alyssa. And I think they’ve really taken on to that. They’re all three completely different [people], and they really are confident.”
Why Is Mark Cuban Leaving ‘Shark Tank’?
After Mark revealed that he is leaving Shark Tank, fans wondered what could be next for the business aficionado. The answer is simple: more time with family.
“I’m leaving just to spend more time with my kids — they’re teenagers now,” he told TheWrap on October 14, 2024. “When they were younger, my wife and I got to tell them where to be and when; now they ain’t listening to us. We shoot in June and September, and just getting the opportunity now when they’re getting out of school to be able to spend time directly with them, that’s important. I’m tired of missing that.”
When asked if he would consider doing another TV show, he replied, “I’m getting asked that a lot now that people know that I’m leaving — I doubt it.”
