Sherri Shepherd Jokes She Won’t Return To ‘The View’ Because It’s Like Going Back To An Old Boyfriend

Don’t bother asking Sherri Shepherd any more questions about re-joining The View because in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sherri, 51, said that she wouldn’t even consider returning to the talk show that she once called “one of the best experiences of my life.”

“No,” she blatantly told an ET reporter before explaining why. “It’s like going back to an old boyfriend and sitting with them and you look up and you go, ‘How did we get here?’ I love it. I love to go back and guest co-host but for now it’s for Meghan McCain, Abby Huntsman, Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar, and Whoopi Goldberg. It’s theirs now. I had a great time and I left it with love.”

One of Sherri’s favorite moments from the show was getting the chance to sit across from other women she looked up to. She called Barbara Walters and Whoopi her “idols” and said that she learned a lot from being on The View for seven years.

“I loved being a full-time host for the seven years that I’ve been on there. Barbara Walters gave me an amazing platform and I learned so much. When people say to me, ‘You’re always on time,’ I go, ‘Because I worked for Barbara Walters for seven years. You should try it!'” she joked in a previous interview with ET. “But it’s time to move on. Everything has an end and when it’s time to get off the ride, you want to get off with a smile so it was the best seven years.”

Sherri is now putting more time into her acting career and her latest movie, Brian Banks, hit theaters this past September. Though she’s focusing on becoming a full-time actress, Sherri still likes to be a guest co-host on The View when she has time. “When somebody’s sick if I’m in town, I fill in for them,” she said. “But I get to do what I’m doing right now, which is acting!” Good for you, Sherri!
