‘Today’ Show Staffers See Megyn Kelly’s Exit As A ‘Blessing’ Following Scandal (EXCLUSIVE)

Following the cancellation of Megyn Kelly‘s third-hour program of the Today show, a source has exclusively told Closer Weekly that NBC staffers have found the 47-year-old star’s exit to be a “blessing.” The insider revealed that since Megyn’s departure, “the production staff has been much happier and there is a lot less tension” and there was “an almost immediate shift” in the way the show operates behind-the-scenes.

The source added that the staff has since viewed Megyn’s firing as “a best case scenario” because they’re now working for the Today show instead of just her show, Megyn Kelly Today. “The opportunities are limitless,” the insider explained.

While the future of Megyn’s timeslot is still being worked out at NBC — Al Roker and Hoda Kotb have temporarily taken over the hour since the host left — the staff is “having a really good time producing the Today hosts,” the source told us. “It’s a much more relaxed vibe. It’s still a lot of work, but it’s organized, friendly, and just has a flow that Megyn was never able to achieve,” the insider continued.

Thankfully, there doesn’t seem to be any bitterness from Al or any of Megyn’s other co-hosts. “Everyone is doing what they can to get through this difficult moment. It’s a team effort. Something that Megyn wasn’t on-board with from the jump,” the source explained.

Just days after Megyn came under fire for questioning why blackface Halloween costumes are “racist” during an on-air panel discussion on Oct. 23 and subsequently penned an email apology to her “friends and teammates,” NBC confirmed that the host was on her way out at Today on Oct. 26. “This morning, NBC News host Megyn Kelly is in talks with the network about her imminent departure, according to a source familiar with the situation,” a tweet from the popular morning NBC show read at the time.
