Today’s Dylan Dreyer Reveals She Has Thanksgiving ‘Rehearsal’ Because Husband ‘Gets Very Anxious’
Today show cohost Dylan Dreyer revealed that she and her family have a Thanksgiving “rehearsal” because her husband, Brian Fichera, gets “anxious” about making sure the holiday is perfect.
“Thanksgiving is my husband and my favorite holiday. Like, I just love everything about getting the family together and cooking a big meal that everyone gets to enjoy,” Dylan, 43, told Today.com. “My husband gets very anxious because he wants dinner to be perfect, because it’s his favorite meal of the year.”
Dylan added that Brian “always wants [her] to just do a rehearsal just to make sure the gravy is perfect, the stuffing is perfect, the mashed potatoes are just right.”
However, she said that the practice round always prepares her for the actual dinner. “The feedback on the gravy for rehearsal was it was a little too watery but the flavor was good. The stuffing was too dry, so I have to add more chicken broth,” the meteorologist explained. “So, you know, I’m taking notes on what I need to fix.”
Meanwhile, Dylan shared that her approach to the holiday has slightly changed after their son Calvin, 7, was diagnosed with celiac disease in 2023. “Stuffing has to be a little different because you can’t use bread, and gravy has to be a little different because you can’t use flour,” she explained about the new gluten-free recipes she’s been using. “Rolls have to be a little different.”
“I’m happy to report that since we took gluten out of Calvin’s diet, his hair’s not falling out anymore. He has no rashes. His ear doesn’t hurt. He has no headache, and his stomach doesn’t hurt,” she told People after learning about his diagnosis.

Dylan then told Today.com that Calvin “will eat everything,” though her two youngest kids – Oliver “Ollie,” 4, and Russell “Rusty,” 3 – “don’t really like anything” about the food that it traditionally served on Thanksgiving.
“Now I’m also thinking, what else could I make that they can at least have a nice meal without having to cook a whole separate thing for them?” she said.
Dylan and Brian met when they were both working at NBC’s Boston affiliate station, WHDH. She was employed as a meteorologist, and he was an in-studio technician. The couple got engaged in 2011 and they tied the knot in 2012.
While Dylan’s youngest sons seem to be picky eaters, she does love spending quality time in the kitchen with them. Back in July, she shared a photo of herself and her sons cooking together at their home via Instagram.
“I was in a rush making dinner last night and all 3 boys asked to help cut up the veggies. I took a deep breath and said, ‘Sure! Why not?’ Dinner was a little delayed but who cares … we had a great moment together! I can be quick to say no to their requests, but sometimes it’s easier and more fun for everyone to just say yes!” the broadcast journalist captioned the photo.
Many fans rushed to the comments section to gush about how sweet the moment was. While one person said that Dylan was the “mom of the year,” another added, “Such a good mom to those three adorable boys!”
