Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Sued Over Son Chet's Car Accident - Closer Weekly

More than a year after Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson‘s son Chet Hanks was involved in a messy car accident, the couple are being sued for damages related to the crash.

According to court documents obtained by E! News, plaintiff Terry Moogan claimed Chet, 25, was “driving his vehicle in an unreasonable and unsafe manner and was under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol” at the time of the February 2015 incident.

Tom, 59, and Rita, also 59, are allegedly now being sued because they are the owners of the car Chet was driving when he collided with Moogan’s vehicle. Moogan and his legal team are arguing the famous couple are “responsible for the physical and emotional injuries sustained as a result of the crash.”

“Despite knowing that [Chet] was a careless and reckless driver and a habitual user of drugs and alcohol, they negligently permitted [Chet] to operate their vehicle,” the plaintiff alleged in the court documents.

Chet was reportedly not charged with a DUI at the time of the accident.
