Tony Bennett Flubs the Words to “God Bless America” But Fans Rush to His Defense!

Legendary performer Tony Bennett was tasked with singing "God Bless America" at Monday night's San Francisco Giants game, but the 88-year-old had some trouble with the lyrics.

Instead of singing "To the oceans white with foam," he sang, "To the oceans bright with gold."

While a few players looked perplexed, fans of the "Fly Me to the Moon" singer took to Twitter to defend the Grammy winner.

Watch the mistake below:

There are plenty of performers who have messed up the words to famous songs (usually the National Anthem) while performing in front of thousands. Here are just a few examples:

Christina Aguilera at the 2011 Super Bowl

Michael Bolton at a 2003 Red Sox vs. Yankees game (watch him not so subtly read off his hand!)

Jesse McCartney at a 2009 NASCAR event

Roseanne Barr at a 1990 San Diego Padres game (which was just plain offensive)
