Valerie Bertinelli seemed like she was happily in love with Mike Goodnough before reports of their split began circulating in November 2024.

The Hot in Cleveland alum began dating the writer two years after her divorce from Tom Vitale was finalized. She gushed about her relationship with Mike on a handful of occasions. But in the end, it appears things just didn’t work out for the pair.

“They are no longer in a relationship,” a source told People on November 5, 2024.

On Being ‘Blessed’

In March 2024, Valerie revealed that she had a special man in her life. However, she did not reveal Mike’s Identity at the time.

“I’ve met someone. And I’m incredibly grateful for him,” the Food Network alum told USA Today at the time. “It’s unlike any relationship that I’ve ever experienced with a man. I don’t want to say too much, but I feel incredibly blessed and lucky to have met him, because I wasn’t expecting it!”

She Never Expected to Find Love

“He was not on my radar,” Valerie admitted. “I was going to die with my six cats and my dog and be incredibly happy doing it. So this came out of left field, and I’m grateful it did. He’s very special.”

Valerie Professed Her Love for Mike

Valerie went public with her romance with Mike in April 2024, declaring her love for him.

“I’m in love,” she told People that month. “It’s a seesaw of emotions because I was adamant I was never falling in love again.”

They Were Friends 1st

They initially met on Instagram and were friends for a few years before making things official.

“It was strictly platonic but there was something about him that I connected with that felt familiar,” the One Day at a Time actress said.

On Being Long Distance

During their relationship, Valerie lived on the West Coast while Mike was based on the East Coast. They established a rule that they would not go more than three weeks without seeing each other.

“Well, the biggest pro is that every time you see each other, especially when you haven’t seen each other for a week or two, it just feels great and all the butterflies kind of kick in again,” she told People in June 2024.

“And [the] difficult [part] is, you just want to see each other all the time. I mean, I hate being apart from him,” Valerie added.
